The Eau Claire Shamrocks boys’ basketball team made it’s debut in the top ten 2A class rankings in the latest poll that was released last week. The Shamrocks entered the poll at #10 which is the first time in more than a decade that the Shamrocks have earned this honor. The Shamrocks are currently 8-4 on the season, but what is impressive about what they are doing is that they are holding opponents to 45 points per game and are doing it without their leading scorer who has not played a game since December 4. Scoring has been difficult without their leading scorer, but each player has stepped up and done just a little bit more to help the Shamrocks find ways to win basketball games. It’s not all good news for the Shamrocks as they are currently in Covid-19 protocol and will not return to action until February 9th. Coach Hunter stated that this is their first time dealing with Covid, but understands that almost every school has been dealing with it and that they just have to find ways to stay in shape and be ready when they are allowed to practice and play again.
