The Eau Claire Shamrocks moved to 8-3 and 4-2 in the region as they downed Newberry High School 50-36 on Friday at the George Glymph Arena. The Shamrocks trailed 18-20 at the half, but outscored Newberry 31-16 in the second half to win by 14 and move to one game behind Newberry for second place in the region standings. If Eau Claire and Newberry were to finish in a tie for second place, Eau Claire would own the tiebreaker. The Shamrocks were led by Janeem Burrell who scored 12 points, 6 rebounds , and 4 steals. Janeem has really stepped his game up during region play as he leads the region in steals. He has scored in double figures the last four games. Jeramell Diaz mad huge contributions in the second half scoring 7 points with 5 of them coming back to back along with a charge during a key run in the game that helped the Shamrocks put away the visiting team. Rickie Murray chipped in with 11 points and Andrew Owens scored 9 as well. The Shamrocks return to action on Tuesday, January, 26, 2021 when they take on the Eagles of Gray Collegiate Academy.
