On Tuesday, January 22, 2021, Eau Claire dropped a heartbreaker to Newberry High School 57-44. The lost gives the Shamrocks a 7-3 overall record and a 3-2 record in the region. Newberry High School led 13-2 after the first quarter, but the Shamrocks came together as a team and pulled within 2 points during the third quarter. The Eagles went on a 6-0 run and never looked back winning by 13. It’s difficult to win on the road against any team when you give up 20 points in transition, commit 25 turnovers, and allow the other team to outscore you by 10 points at the free throw line. Eau Claire was led by Andrew Owens who had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assist. Janeem Burrell had 11 points as well. The Shamrocks will look to even up the series and take control of the tiebreaker on Friday at home. The Shamrocks would need to win by more than 14 points in order to do so.
